Meet Miriam

Miriam Rollin has always been a fighter for what’s right.  In her 40-year career, she fought for vulnerable children and families to be safe and have the opportunity to succeed.  Rollin fought for children and families in the halls of Congress, in state legislatures, and in courtrooms.

Rollin successfully partnered with thousands of law enforcement leaders across the country to champion proven-effective policies like quality early childhood education and voluntary home visiting for at-risk new moms.  Rollin prosecuted family violence and child abuse cases in criminal court.  She represented neglected children in civil court.  She built a national coalition to protect children’s education rights.  No battle to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families was too tough for Rollin.

While living in Virginia for most of her career, Rollin and her husband, Mike, and their child, Sam, made regular visits to northeastern North Carolina.  Entranced by the natural beauty of the area and overwhelmed by the friendliness of the people, Rollin has been proud to call northeastern North Carolina home since she retired.

In retirement, Rollin volunteers at a food pantry, advocates for improvements before local governments, and serves as an appointed member of the Board of Adjustment. Rollin is also an active member of her religious congregation, volunteers with several marine conservation efforts, and helps on town clean-ups and community events.

Rollin will bring to the representation of the people of NC House District 1: her “can do!” attitude, her skills in policy and law, and her passion for getting people the help they need.
