Rollin forward for NC House District 1.

Our elected leaders should be focused on addressing the rising costs of gas, groceries, housing, and healthcare that we are all experiencing, and ensuring each person has the chance to achieve the American Dream.  That means a stable job, a home, enough money to put clothes on our backs and food on our tables, and a good education for our kids. A good education enables our children — and our communities — to have a better future.

Instead, my opponent and his colleagues who control the NC General Assembly have been busy focusing on:

• Harming our immigrant neighbors (SB 153),

• Providing tax cuts that are of greatest benefit to the wealthy, while ignoring or harming people of modest means (HB 1089, SB 1080),

• Allowing big corporations to poison us and our animal friends by fouling our air, land and water (HB 402),

• Providing too little, too late in the budget for our kids’ education (SB 257) — when a recent report pegs our k-12 education funding at 50th out of 50 states — and also throwing our tax dollars at voucher efforts, which rob from the schools that teach most of our kids, to benefit a few more privileged folks (HB 87).

• Interfering with women’s bodily freedom (SB 20 in 2023),

• Igniting culture wars here in NC (HB 805 in 2025),

• Putting us all more at risk from gun violence (SB 50 & HB 193 in 2025), and

• Altering electoral rules — both district lines (SB 757 in 2023 and SB 249 in 2025) and election processes (HB 958) — so those in power can stay in power.

That’s not what our NC House District 1 residents need.

I’m running to be your NC House District 1 Representative because I know you deserve better than that.

If elected, I will make it my top priority to use all avenues available to address the economic hardship that many in our district are facing each day, with rising costs of gas, groceries, housing, and healthcare.  And I will fight hard so that every person in our district has a fair chance to realize their goals and achieve success for themselves and their children.
